Debra began her legal career in 1992 after being a stay-at-home mom raising her two sons for several years. Having obtained her bachelor’s degree in Social Science from Valley City State College in North Dakota along with a minor in Business, Debra’s talents were put to use in law firms drafting pleadings and other documents, researching public records, preparing discovery requests and responses, and assisting attorneys prepare for and participate in trials.
Debra’s true passion is legal research (both conventional and computer-aided) and writing legal briefs. Debra has had played a key role in approximately nearly 50 appellate briefs to the state district court, the Wyoming Supreme Court and the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver.
Debra has worked both sides of the aisle in criminal litigation, having spent several years at the prosecutor’s office and then years at the public defender’s office and private criminal defense firms. She is well-versed in family law and has a substantial working knowledge of contracts, probate and estate planning, corporations, and civil litigation.
Debra attained the Certified Paralegal (CP) credential through the National Association of Legal Assistants/Paralegals (NALA) in 1995. In 2007, she obtained the Advanced Certified Paralegal (ACP) credential in Trial Practice, followed by Criminal Litigation in 2011, and a third ACP in Family Law (Child Custody, Support & Visitation) in 2015.
A Minnesota native, Debra has been in Wyoming for nearly 40 years and has no plans on ever leaving this beautiful state. She and her husband blended their two families, and together are blessed with 15 grandchildren.
